A God encounter

For those of you who got to read the beginning of this story on our Facebook page, will know that Andi and I meet Pastor Frans Sefudi in Gaborone about six weeks ago at the Department of Home Affairs. We exchanged numbers and we promised that we would visit with him in his home town.

As we left today, we had arranged to meet him along the way, but I took a turn into the town and ended up at the wrong place, or so I thought, but, God, in His infinite grace, had other plans. After asking a few people to direct me, I finally was drawn to this young man who kindly offered to help us find our friend. While we were driving, I asked this young man what his name was and if he had ever given his life to Jesus.

Here we are speaking to Tsephseo's 93 year old Gogo (granny)

"No", he replied, "I have never given my life to Jesus, but I have always hoped that some day someone would tell me about Him". Well, when we finally arrived at our prearranged meeting place, the bus rank on the side of the A1 highway, outside Moshupa, I told Ps Frans about Tsepheso desire and asked Frans to led Tsepheso to the Lord and to pray in their mother tongue Tswana. We stood in agreement behind my truck, in the sand as the tears welled up in Tsepheso's eyes. I just loved the way in which they prayed and hearing this young man give his life to Christ, just blessed me. What was even more amazing at the time was to sense the presence of the Lord at that moment, it was so tangible and it reminded me of the many times we have stood in the dust and led people to Christ.

Tsepheso, now 23 years old, went on to take us to his home so that we could meet his Gogo (Granny) and Aunt, who had taken him in after his parents died 5 years ago. It was a small home, and poverty was all over the place. Many instances, Tsepheso would have to go to bed without food because there was simply not enough and his aunt was not really very kind to him. I knew at that moment that I could not just pray for him and leave it there. I felt the Lord lay it on my heart that we would see to it that the family got given food every month to show our God's goodness and we also felt to make sure that Tsepheso would get new clothes and we hope somehow to draw him in to work with the young people in the area.

Walking along the road together with young Tsepheso and Ps Frans on my right

After spending some time with him, he took Andi, Frans and myself to a building down the road that was standing empty, one we could use as a creche and small church. So, we are making contact with the owner, who lives in Lobatse to see if we can come to an arrangement to help Pastor Frans get this building.

The little building we hope to be able to get for a creche and small church

We have at this time also decided to accept the request of Pastor Frans to associate his ministry, Revelation Ministries, with Mark Labuschagne Ministries and we are so honored to be able to work alongside him in this way. What an incredible heart after God. He never asked for any money, never asked for any assistance, merely told us about his love for Jesus, which was so evident in the man's life and so we pray that the Lord will help us make his dreams a reality in the town of Moshupa. We know that as we continue to reach out, even when man says, it cannot be done, God says, "It can".

So, with all this excitement, we left and went on back to Gaborone and hope to be in Moshupa next week. Please pray with us as we know that none of this was by accident, God put it all together in a way that we never could have done. Believe with us as we trust the Lord for the funding to make a difference in the hearts and lives of the people we are sent to.

If you feel lead to support this work, kindly visit the gifts page on this site, we would be most grateful and if you cannot do so, please pray with us, for we believe in the purpose of God in the nation of Botswana...

Come, with me as we reach out to Botswana and beyond.

Our love for our Father

Mark Labuschagne We are a vessel set apart, cleansed, emptied, consecrated; just standing, waiting every moment for God, in Christ, by the Holy Spirit, to work out in us as much of the holiness and the life of His Son as pleases Him We worship Him only!
