Christ our life...

Death brings so much sorrow, but we can rejoice in this truth, even in death, Jesus remains our life!

The word of God tells us "each person is destined to die once" (Heb 9:27), this fact we cannot deny. As tragic as it may sound, there is a time to live and a time to die. When one considers life, it is the desire of all mankind to live as long as possible, even the word of God promises long life (Eph 6:3 & Ps 91;16). Death is not something we want to talk about and many do not want to except it, but the reality speaks for itself.

We need to understand, death for the believer, is to be translated from one state into another. 1 Cor 15:42-44 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. Our joy therefore is in knowing that in Christ, we are raised to eternal life in an immortal body, different to the mortal body that was sown in this life. If I understand scripture correctly then only once we lay down our mortal lives (Die) do we put on immortality. 1 Cor 15:54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory. where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”

So death is an inevitable part of life, as harsh as that might sound, it is an indelible fact. So understanding its purpose in every believers life, helps us to understand the process of change bringing our lives in this age to its inevitable conclusion and gives us who are left behind comfort knowing those who have gone ahead of us, are now dwelling in imperishable bodies in the heavenly realm.

So, having said this, let us cherish every moment we have with one another, for time as we know it so short. Let us live our lives in honor of Jesus Christ and one another, as the Body of Christ. Let us choose to celebrate Christ, even when faced with death for in all things, we give thanks and praise His name.
