Isa 61:1 THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound,
61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favour] and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
61:3 To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion,-to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit-that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

YOU cannot quit this calling!

John 15:16 You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you I and have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], He may give it to you

• “Called” means: kaleo in Greek. The word is used to invite or summon and is especially used of God’s call to participate in the blessings of God’s kingdom (Rom 8:30; 9:24,25). Rom 1:11 For I long to see you, so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to you for the establishing of the healing ministry you are called into. God’s law is spiritual; it is a transcript of the divine nature, and extends its authority to the acts of the soul of man.

• Jesus Christ has “called” believers by His grace, and here Paul warned them not be spiritually deceived and end up following a false gospel. The way believers stay true to the call of Christ in their lives is to stay in the Word of God!!

• Rom 11:29 For God's gifts and calling never change.

• 1 Cor 1:26 Brothers, think about your own calling. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.

• 1 Cor 1:27 But God chose (us) what is nonsense in the world to make the wise feel ashamed. God chose what is weak in the world to make the strong feel ashamed.

• 1 Co 1:28 And God chose what is insignificant in the world, what is despised, what is nothing, in order to destroy what is something, (diseases, curses). 1Co 1:29 So that no human being may boast in God's presence. 1Co 1:30 It is because of Him that you are in union with Christ Jesus, who for us has become wisdom from God, as well as our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.

• 1Co 7:24 Brothers, everyone should stay in the calling he was in when called by God.

• Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our offences, according to the riches of God's grace

• Eph 1:8 That He lavished on us, along with all wisdom and understanding,

• Eph 1:9 When He made known to us the secret of His will. This was according to His plan that He set forth in Christ (for us to do the same works). Why? Eph 1:10 To usher in the fullness of the times and to gather up all things in Christ, both things in heaven and things on earth.

• Eph 1:11 In Christ we were also chosen when we were predestined according to the purpose of the One who does everything according to the intention of His will,

• Eph 1:17 I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father most glorious, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation through knowing Christ fully. Eph 1:18 Then, with the eyes of your hearts enlightened, you will know the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance among His children,

• Eph 1:19 and the unlimited greatness of His power for us who believe, according to the working of His mighty strength, Eph 1:20, which He put to work in Christ when he raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realm.

• Eph 1:21 He is far above every ruler, authority, power, dominion, and every name that can be named, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. Eph 1:22 God has put everything (diseases, curses, and poverty) under His feet and has made Him the head of everything for the good of the church,

• Eph 1:23, Which is His body, the fullness of the One who fills everything in every way. Eph 4:1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you to live in a way that is worthy of the calling to which you have been called,

• Eph 4:2 with all humility and gentleness, along with patience, accepting one another in love. Eph 4:3 do your best to maintain the unity of the Spirit by means of the bond of peace.

• Eph 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit. In the same way, you were called to the one hope of your calling. Eph 4:5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism. Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, through all, and in all. (in Him we live and move and have our being) Acts 17:28.

• Eph 4:7 now to each one of us grace has been given according to the measure of Christ's gift.

• Eph 4:8 that is why God says, "When He went up to the highest place He led captives into captivity and gave gifts to people." Eph 4:9 now what does this "He went up" mean except that He also had gone down into the lower parts of the earth? Eph 4:10 the One who went down is the same One who went up above all the heavens so that He might fill everything. Eph 4:11 And it is He who gifted some to be apostles, others to be prophets, others to be evangelists, and still others to be pastors and teachers, Eph 4:12 to perfect the His children, to do the work of ministry, and to build up the body of Christ

• 2Th 1:6 Certainly it is right for God to pay back those who afflict you with affliction. 2Th 1:7 and to give us who are afflicted relief when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels. 2Th 1:8 in blazing fire. He will take revenge on those who do not know God and on those who refuse to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 2Th 1:9 Such people will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction by being separated from the Lord's presence and from His glorious power. 2Th 1:10 when He comes to be glorified by His saints, and to be regarded with wonder on that day by all who have believed including you, because you believed our testimony. 2Th 1:11 With this in mind, we always pray for you, asking that our God might make you worthy of His calling and that through His power He might help you accomplish every good desire and faithful work. 2Th 1:12 that way the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified by you, and you by Him, according to the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.

• Heb 3:1 Therefore, holy brothers, partners in a heavenly calling, keep your focus on Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession.

God speaks to men about His and their intentions:

Job 33:14 “For God speaks once, Yes twice, though man pays no attention.
Job 33:15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, When deep sleep falls on men, In slumbering on the bed;
Job 33:16 Then He opens the ears of men, And seals their instruction,” (What He wants to do or wants man to do.)

Important lessons:

• God did not give us leaders to intimidate us, but to help us.

Heb 13:17 You’re your spiritual leaders and submit to them [continually recognizing their authority over you], for they are constantly keeping watch over your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare, as men who will have to render an account [of their trust]. [Do your part to] let them do this with gladness and not with sighing and groaning, for that would not be profitable to you [either].

• We are never to downgrade others, but know that we are all equal as brothers and sisters in God’s family. (curse: spiritual law)

Jam 4:11 Do not criticize one another, my friends. If you criticize or judge another Christian, you criticize and judge the Law. If you judge the Law, then you are no longer one who obeys the Law, but one who judges it. Jam 4:12 God is the only lawgiver and judge. He alone can save and destroy. Who do you think you are, to judge someone else? God gave us the same Spirit with the same measure; there is no difference between what Jesus Christ and we received.

It is the same Spirit. 1Co 12:4 But there are differences of gifts, but the same Spirit 1Co 12:5 And there are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 1Co 12:6 And there are differences of workings, but it is the same God working all things in all. 1Co 12:7 But to each one is given the showing forth of the Spirit to our profit. 1Co 12:8 For through the Spirit is given to one a word of wisdom; and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; 1Co 12:9 and to another faith by the same Spirit; and to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 1Co 12:10 and to another workings of powers, to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; and to another kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues. 1Co 12:11 But the one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing separately to each one as He desires. 1Co 12:12 For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ. 1Co 12:13 For also by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free, even all were made to drink into one Spirit.

• Give honour to where honour is due, but your ultimate allegiance is to Jesus Christ, the Lord.

• It is our hearts, not our status that the Lord looks upon (1 Sam 16:7). Each being gifted by God, it is God who must have the Glory.

Learn to delight in the successful ministries of others. (Be careful of the seed you sow with your mouth). Give your right hand of support to those who labour in the Lord, even when their field of labour is different from yours. As we have seen in 1 Cor and in the Blessings and curses course. Stand firm when the truths of the gospel are under attack.

Study the following Scriptures as it will assist you in defining your role in the Body of Christ:
2 Tim 3:12, Hab 3:2 – 4, 1 Cor 3:5, 6, 8, 2 Cor 12:7 – 10, 2 Cor 10:3 – 5, 2 Cor 5:18, 20

2Co 3:5 not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God; 2Co 3:6 who also has made us able ministers of the new covenant; not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit makes alive. Our power, anointing and abilities comes through the Holy Spirit. We are to yield to the Spirit of the Living God. 2 Cor 3:8 We live in the Mercy/Righteousness dispensation. Thus, when we pray in the Holy Spirit, we move into the Spirit Dispensation, a deeper level of God’s presence

Be careful not to fall into the trap of pride. Don’t become puffed up. Servant-hood will keep you humble. Don’t allow your thoughts to dwell on the miracles that you will see and experience! God wants you to serve in excellence! Declare your absolute dependence on the Holy Spirit. 2Co 12:7 and by the surpassing revelations, lest I be made haughty, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be made haughty. 2Co 12:8 For this thing I besought the Lord three times, that it might depart from me.

2Co 12:9 And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may overshadow me. 2Co 12:10 Therefore I am pleased in weaknesses, in insults, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am powerful.

1Co 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those being lost, but to us being saved, it is the Power of God!.

• Be careful of people who follow you because of the anointing on your life! They want to bask in your sun, but themselves, they do not seek the face of God. If you do not see the same fruit in their lives, they need to go. Look at the example of Jesus, His followers crucified Him.

• It is good to have followers, people who pray for you and support you. Jesus had true followers to the end, and the test for true followers are: that they continue with the same works.

• Jesus said to this followers: Greater works that I have done, you shall also do. Thus meaning that He will not feel threatened by the one who dares to act on His Word by faith. Just realise that you are to walk in submission to the pastor, spiritual leader over you. The gift of healing may not function in that person’s life, but that person is your mentor and will see when pride or false religion has become in your life! Always keep your pastors up to date on what you are doing, as this will give you valuable spiritual covering, when out ministering. Walk in love; submit one to the other as Christ has called us to unity in the Spirit. Because of an unprotected gift, pride will let you fall.

Teachers: (John 3:1).

• If you are a teacher of the Word, people will and must see the miracles in your life. When you move into the healing ministry, you will be closely scrutinized! People will check you for flaws and mistakes! They will rile, ridicule and insult you, talk behind your back. They did the same to Jesus. Just make sure that your Christ walk is a pure walk. If sin is in your life, be sure that at the most uncomfortable moment, when a demon manifests, your secrets will become known and you will be embarrassed. Get rid of besetting sins. BE Holy as I am holy, says the Lord.

In conclusion

This I wrote in order for you to know that once you start serving Him with your whole heart, do not be surprised if persecution follows. Be happy, because it means His glory is resting upon you. Now you start living Galatians 2:20! Die pride, die anger, die self-pity, die revenge and hand over your adversaries to the King of Kings who is daily changing you into His image. The Holy Spirit begins the shaping, character forming process to conform us into the image of Christ. (Gal 4:19). This verse speaks of a change in character, conforming to the character of Christ in actuality, not merely in semblance. The idea is that the Holy Sprit is busy making us Christ-like in our inner man and women so that we live under the lordship of Christ in every area of our lives.

This is when you begin to pray, change my heart O God! Change my attitude. Ask Him: what do You want to teach me in this situation? Many times you will hear, “to form your character after My own character; and to teach you to start reigning as a king over your circumstances”.

“Speak to the mountain in your life” before you can minister and then let us move towards maturity: Rom 8:1 THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.

Have your conscience cleared and washed by the Holy Spirit: Heb 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ (who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God) purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Study: The Blood: Heb 9:12; 1Pe 1:19; 1Jo 1:7; Rev 1:5;

Study: Dead works: Heb 6:1

Be blessed in the love of our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ.
