Luke 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [Christ]; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. Jesus encouraged us to be vigilant and to guard against just following anyone, and that includes their teachings. I personally have chosen to spend time reading the word of God and allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to my heart rather being influenced by man... I felt it better to allow the Holy Spirit to guide me rather than men and only when the Lord allowed men to confirm what he has already shown me would I be in agreement with what they teach. Again, it might sound arrogant, but in reality, we cannot afford to follow every doctrine we hear, just for the sake of doing so. Those who teach need to make sure they are hearing from God and not sharing their interpretation of scripture indiscriminately. I have chosen not to prophecy to anyone for the sake of doing so, in fact, I believe prophets should be saying a lot less than they are right now and learn to speak only when the Holy Spirit instructs them to do so. We have to be careful in the times we live in and I want to warn you, just because it sounds right does not mean it is. The enemy is on a continued mission to deceive the elect and that deception could even come from behind the pulpit you so diligently follow. In 1997 the Lord gave me a word, which said, "The are many who stand behind the pulpit who have become my enemies... And there will come a time when I begin to remove those who declare lies in my name". So, friend, spend time with Jesus, meditate on His word, following the leading of the Holy Spirit in all things and continue to worship Him in spirit and in truth, for this is what our heavenly Father is looking for.
